Thought experiment for you...
A company sources a bulk order of widgets that are urgently required to keep the production line moving, but chooses an untried but 'good value' supplier someone found on line. This decision is publicly supported by top management as good for the business and good for shareholders. They even PR the story in the press When the widgets arrive, with a load more PR fanfare, it turns out they're unusably faulty. And the suppliers customer service line is unobtainable. What happens next? Yep - that's the conclusion I came to as well.
