Continuing my concerted attempt to crack jazz, helped by releases from a new gen of artists that I actually like.
So hot on the heels of The Comet Is Coming, we have Moses Boyd and his second album Dark Matter.
Moses is a jazz drummer (which can sound big alarm bells for me), but his latest is brilliant: alongside the jazz there's a heavy dose of Bristol-style triphop and a dash of drum & bass for good measure.
All good, and helps my new found jazz liking no end.
This was also the last thing I bought IRL in an actual record shop pre-lockdown. And very on point thematically too, given all that has since happened with BLM. So a significant purchase!
