Chlorine washing of chicken misses the wider animal welfare point

In the debate about chlorinated chicken, the US keeps coming back to the point that their products are safe to eat.
But the safety of chlorine washing isn't the point.
It's about the removal of health and welfare standards (ours and animals) in pursuit of trade deals that damage UK farming and food production, and leave consumers worse off.
